How Vitamin D3 works
Once absorbed, Vitamin D3 is converted by the liver into 25 hydroxyvitamin D, also known as calcidiol, and then further activated by the kidneys into calcitriol. In its active form, it interacts with Vitamin D receptors found across a wide range of tissues and cells.
Because Vitamin D3 is fat soluble, it is best absorbed when taken alongside a meal containing dietary fats, which support uptake through the intestinal wall into the bloodstream.
